Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a hands-on technique of working with the subtle energies of the whole person, including body, mind, and spirit.  It is a wonderful healing technique which lowers anxiety and stress and allows you to tap into the “universal life force energy” which is all around us.  This enables the body to heal itself and improve general health and quality of life.

How does Reiki work?

For a typical Reiki session, the client lies face up and fully clothed on a  table similar to a massage table.  The practitioner moves slowly from head to feet and back again.  Along the way she places her hands side by side, palms down, in a series of places along the client’s body (or above the body if the client chooses).  She stops at each energy center or chakra, where energy may have become blocked. The practitioner will stay at each chakra from three to five minutes. The Reiki practitioner does not manipulate the client’s energy, but rather is considered a conduit for the healing energy.  She draws energy from the universal life force which is all around us and then lets it flow into the person who needs the healing.

How does Reiki feel?

The sensation of receiving Reiki energy varies from person to person and runs the gamut from deep relaxation to tingling to warmth and comfort.. It is so relaxing that the client often takes a cat nap during the session.  Physical aches and pains may disappear of their own accord as tense muscles start to relax, mental anguish starts to diminish, and solutions start to present themselves. Other effects of Reiki are not always immediate or obvious and may be realized with time, although for some people the results can be dramatic and instant. Afterwards most people enjoy a sense of calm and well-being.

We can design an individual program for you. Your program can involve a series of Reiki sessions (usually three are recommended to get started), Reiki can be combined with Reflexology in the same session, or Reiki sessions can be alternated with Reflexology sessions. Aromatherapy my also be recommended as part of your Reiki program.  Reiki sessions last about 40 to 45 minutes.

Dr. John Asks some important questions of interest to East Aurora residents - Chiropractor East Aurora Dr. John Asks...

Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
